At the end of the program, participants should be able to:
• Discuss advanced cataract surgery techniques to manage complex surgical
cases including the small pupil, white cataracts and loose zonules in order
to decrease surgical complications
• Discuss how genetics, nutrition, and lifestyle affect AMD in order to
better educate patients on risk factor modification
• List several novel therapeutic methods for the treatment of AMD in order
to counsel patients on the latest treatment options
• Distinguish between contact lens-related, fungal, and other unusual
infectious keratitis in order to tailor diagnostic studies and therapy
• Explain how the definition “maximum tolerated medical therapy� in
glaucoma treatment has evolved with the advent of new pharmacologic,
laser, and surgical treatments in order to minimize patient morbidity
