   The aim of the symposium is to continue our endless learning process
   in becoming familiar with state-of-the-art techniques in open and
   minimally invasive surgery of the foregut. We will also devote a
   session to basic technical aspects of suturing techniques as well as
   endoscopy. At the conclusion of the program participants should be
   able to: • Review and practice well established basic and advanced
   concepts in flexible endoscopy and to learn new emerging technologies
   in endoscopic surgery • Evaluate the indications and techniques in
   revisional bariatric surgery
   • Review current treatment modalities of benign and malignant diseases
   of the foregut
   • Appraise the management of traumatic injuries of the foregut
   • Comprehend the physiological mechanisms of bariatric surgery in the
   treatment of metabolic syndrome
