13th Annual Echocardiography Conference: State-of-the-Art 2011
The Roosevelt Hotel
45 East 45th Street @ Madison Avenue New York, NY 10017
Madison Avenue, New York
This 13th Annual Conference has been developed to review the most recent
recommendations of echocardiographic imaging and quantitation as well as to
introduce the recent technological advances. Topics to be covered include: A
Review of Echo Quantitation, Review of Appropriateness Criteria for Echo,
Valvular Disease, Cardiomyopathies, Echocardiography in Systolic and Diastolic
Heart Failure, Pericardial Disease, Coronary Artery Disease and Stress
Echocardiography, New Imaging Modalities (CT, MRI and Vascular Imaging),
Invasive Echocardiography (TEE and Intracardiac Echocardiography) and
Congenital Heart Disease Cardiac Masses. Nationally known experts on
echocardiography, valvular disease and new imaging modalities will present the
most up-to-date information. Hands-on demonstrations of basic and advanced
Doppler will be offered on the first and second days. Participants are invited to
present cases throughout the conference.
This conference is intended for cardiologists, echocardiography technicians and
medical professionals interested in a general review of echocardiography.

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to
Apply the ASE Guideline for quantification of the left and right
Estimate myocardial function using standard M-mode and 2D
echocardiography as well as newer modalities such as threedimensional
echocardiography, strain imaging, vector velocity
imaging, speckle tracking and torsion
Use echocardiographic and Doppler methods to assess
hemodynamics, valvular disease, pericardial disease and
cardiac function
Recognize and quantitate valvular heart disease including prosthetic
valve disease and apply the current and new ASE Recommendations
Recognize the current utility of echocardiography in heart failure
diagnosis and therapy
Apply conventional and tissue Doppler techniques to assess diastolic
function according to the new ASE Guidelines
Use stress echocardiography in valvular and coronary heart disease
including the use of contrast and diastolic stress testing as described
in the new ASE Guidelines
Recognize the utility of transesophageal and intracardiac imaging in
management decisions
Use imaging techniques complementary to echocardiography such
as CT, MRI and vascular imaging
Appropriately use echocardiography as described in the new ASE
Appropriateness Criteria for TTE and TEE
