The course is designed to help radiologists, technologists
and medical physicists involved in breast imaging:
w To review the data on mammographic screening and
discuss the recent controversy, including the data in
support of routine screening, potential harms of screening,
and the assessment of breast cancer risk.
w To describe the use of breast MRI in cancer and disease
assessment, the appropriate use of breast MRI,
and to understand the use of breast MRI guided biopsy,
including management.
w To describe the current information on the biology of
breast cancer from the pathologist’s perspective, and
include insight from the medical oncology perspective.
w To discuss recent technologies, such as tomosynthesis,
digital imaging, and nuclear medicine techniques, and
their role in imaging breast disease.
w To report on a wide variety of breast imaging topics,
including biopsy tips and tricks, managing the difficult
patient, working in a multidisciplinary environment, challenging
cases using ultrasound, MRI and multimodalities,
accreditation and MOC, talking to the press, and
medical legal issues.
