Beryllium Summit 2011: 4th International Conference on Beryllium Disease
InterContinental Hotel and Bank of America Conference Center
9801 Carnegie Avenue Cleveland, OH 44106
Cleveland, OHIO
The conference will cover recent innovations in the prevention, evaluation, and management of chronic beryllium disease including primary, secondary, and tertiary preventive strategies for this exposure-related disease.

This conference will also provide a review and analysis of current research, new treatment strategies, and clinical practice management options with the goal of increasing practitioners’ knowledge and competencies and, thus, reducing the incidence and complications of beryllium disease.

    * Human health effects of beryllium
    * Beryllium exposure
    * Immunology and pathogenic mechanisms
    * Genetics, genomics, and gene environmental interactions
    * Future directions
    *  Perform a differential diagnosis of chronic beryllium disease in patients with a history of environmental exposure to beryllium;
    * Compare and contrast recent advances in diagnostic tests for chronic beryllium disease;
    * Describe current research findings in the genomics associated with beryllium sensitization;
    * Summarize pathogenesis of immunology and pathogenic mechanisms associated with development of chronic beryllium disease;
    * Describe exposure pathways and biological relevance;
    * Define the role of beryllium sensitization in chronic beryllium disease.
